NPAC sent a questionnaire to the mayoral candidates-Jim Francesconi
and Tom
Potter-and the city council candidates-Sam Adams and Nick Fish.
All
responded ed discount pack 3. The question topics include:
- Role of the community in governance
- Role of Portland's neighborhood system
- Role of ONI
- Funding for neighborhood coalitions
- Neighborhood grants
- Regulatory reform
- City council and bureau involvement of the community
- Campaign finance reform (the Sten/Blackmer proposal)

Background on NPAC
The Neighborhood PAC (NPAC) is made up of neighborhood leaders
from across
Portland. NPAC supports a strong voice for neighborhood organizations
and
community members in the governance of our city.
NPAC believes Portland needs a strong system of neighborhood and
community
organizations to ensure that community members have the capacity
to
effectively engage with each other, businesses, and government.
Online Poll
NPAC asked neighborhood leaders from throughout the City to vote
for the
candidate of their choice after reviewing the candidates' answers.
Voting
was anonymous and restricted to prevent multiple voting. As a relatively
new
organization, NPAC is still developing its endorsement policy and
has not
endorsed any candidate. The results of the Online Poll are:
